Starring Scarlett Johansson as nanny Annie Braddock, "The Nanny
Diaries" is an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Emma McLaughlin
and Nicola Kraus and tells the story of the emotional and often
humorous journey of a young woman from a working-class neighborhood in
New Jersey, struggling to understand her place in the world. Fresh out
of college, Annie accepts the position as a nanny for a wealthy family
(referred to as simply "the X's") and must cater to the every whim of
Mrs. X (Laura Linney) and her precocious son Grayer, while attempting
to avoid the formidable Mr. X (Paul Giamatti).
The Nanny
Diaries was written and directed by Shari Springer Berman & Robert
Pulcini, and was released in the US on the 24th September 2007. The
film was released in the UK on 12th October.
